From a young age, I’ve always been passionate about sports. And even though I was a good athlete as a kid, by middle school I realized that I didn’t possess the genetics to become a professional athlete (thanks Dad!). So, if I couldn’t be a pro athlete, I wanted to get involved in sports any way I could. And so birthed a long journey that has gotten me here today.
At 12 years old, I first started as the P.A. announcer for my younger brother’s pee wee football team. Around the same time, I started my own college football publication- Penter’s College Football Report, which I distributed to friends and family for the low subscription price of $5 per season. I continued those passions into high school, where I was the sports editor and editor-in-chief of our school paper.
I continued chasing my childhood dreams by attending the University of Florida. My first passion for sports was for the Florida Gators, where my parents each went and met, and where my grandmother was a cheerleader on the sidelines for the Gators during the late 1950s. Graduating from UF was always my first real goal in life and one I am proud to have achieved.
My career began as a sports reporter and anchor for Alabama News Network, the CBS and ABC affiliate in Montgomery, Alabama. This put me smack-dab in the middle of the most intense college football rivalry in the country- Alabama and Auburn. In addition to spending lots of time covering the Tide and the Tigers, I also covered Troy athletics and local schools Alabama State, Faulkner, Huntingdon, AUM, and Tuskegee, along with lots of high school sports in the River Region, the Montgomery Biscuits minor league team, and races at Talladega, along with lots more. After two years in Montgomery, I am currently back in Atlanta, where I have transitioned my career to the digital world, where I cover sports on social media for Turner Sports.
I created this website to simply have an avenue for two things I love- writing and sports. Go check out my Blog page to see my latest posts and opinions. I also tweet frequently (mostly about sports) and love driving the conversation on Twitter.
